Different Kinds of Mixing Bowls

We can do a lot of things using our mixing bowls. We can create our batter, mix our salad, beat eggs and anything that needs mixing. We can also use a regular bowl but then the mixing bowl is deep enough to not let your food spill out. There are a lot of varieties of mixing bowl around the market. They have their own uniqueness and qualities. There are mixing bowls made of glass, plastic and silicone.

Glass mixing bowls are trusted bowls until now. It is heavy that makes it sturdy. It will not move easily even you are beating an egg. The solidity of the glass allows you to better beat or mix your mixtures in the bowl. The drawback of having the glass mixing bowl is that since it is solid glass, it is heavy to be carried around the kitchen. Storing it is also one the disadvantage because it is spacious and needs to be stored on a safe place for it not to break. Using it as well needs to be handled with care because it is a fragile material.

Another material is plastic. It is light in weight and you can easily carry. It is flexible which makes it easy to transfer water or liquid substance to another container. Since it is plastic even if it falls, it will not break for sure. The disadvantage of this material is that because of its lightness and flexibility it is sometimes hard to make it sturdy in one place when beating the mixture. It sometimes keeps stains that are hard to remove. In time it crisp and change in color. It also peels off the outer plastic of the mixing bowl after few years especially if it is exposed to heat and cold temperature. It can melt as well when accidentally touch excessive heat.

The silicone mixing bowl has the sturdiness and durability of the glass and the flexibility and lightness of the plastic material. It is sturdy because it has rubber grip at the bottom that will not easily slip off the table. It is durable because it can resist heat and it will not change in color. It’s not as fragile as the glass. Its flexibility will allow you to transfer liquid in much easier way and it will still go back to the same shape it has afterwards.
